The Different Types of Automatic Doors

When commercial property owners think of purchasing automatic doors for their buildings, they might only consider the most popular models. While sliding doors and swinging doors make up the majority, they don’t always meet a building’s entryway needs. As such, knowing some of the other options on the market can prove useful. This way, you can ensure you’re making the right decision from the start. These are the different types of automatic doors available for commercial complexes and each of their essential characteristics.

Sliding Automatic Doors

Sliding automatic doors consist of a motorized track and often two sets of sliding panel doors. When a person steps on the sensor plate, these panels will move seamlessly out of their way. They’re great for managing entering and exiting patrons at the same time and are often the most popular for their sleek design and unobstructed entry. Since their panels slide out of the way, they’re able to maximize door space and accommodate higher traffic.

Automatic Swinging Doors

On the other hand, automatic swinging doors work by moving a door along a hinge rather than sliding it horizontally out of the way. These automatic doors for businesses can open either inward or outward, depending on the flow of traffic. However, a single door can’t do both, so you’ll need to keep this in mind when installing them. Swinging doors are also available in low-energy models to help better conserve your building’s operational resources.

Automatic Folding Doors

Another type of automatic door is the folding model that both swings and slides into a compact folded position. These commercial automatic doors, like sliding doors, provide a lot of entryway space for individuals to come and go as they please. They also come in single or bi-fold options to better accommodate areas of different sizes.

Automatic Revolving Doors

Automatic revolving doors are a potentially useful option as well. In fact, this type of automatic door is beloved for allowing simultaneous entry and exit without becoming congested during higher traffic times. The automatic varieties, especially, keep people moving and make these spaces more accommodating to those with a limited range of motion.

Choosing the perfect commercial automatic doors for your building can be challenging enough, so the last thing anyone wants to do afterward is research qualified professionals to install them.
